Try the Apex hotel neer tower bridge, stayed there 2 months ago it was like £120 a night and the room was massive, had a 50 tv in there too
Try looking on trip advisor. Just go to www.tripadvisor.co.uk type in the dates and then it lists them with the ratings, so you can see what the highest rated hotels are etc.
www.londontown.com is pretty good too, same thing, put in dates, and it will give you a list, if you look at the top of the list it will say "launch interactive map" or something like that. I always use it when im going to london!

For £400odd for the weekend, have you thought about going abroad? Rome, Paris, Barcelona, stereotypical weekend breaks etc... would be a similar price i'd think?
Although depends on what you're wanting to do I suppose.

Hilton in the docklands is good. About £150 a night and the hotel has a shuttle bus to Canada Water tube station every 10-15 mins.

Good call!
Also Stu look into this:
http://www.hotelstravel.com/Europe/GB/London/SunbornYachtHotel.html
You should be able to find a room for circa 200-250 a night and its pretty plush I did this once upon a time Valentines day and it was good. With good acess via DLR into central london.
