Always been anti marriage etc, but since I have been with my girlfriend things have changed. We both want the same things in life and everything is amazing togther! Beenm thinking a lot lately!
Who on here is engaged?
What age were you when you got engaged?
How long where you with the other person for?
How much did you, or would you think is the right amount to spend on a ring?
Cheers!

Nopes was close to getting engaged with the ex, ended up flying over to boston to meet her and she ended it over there.
Typically I would say 2/3 years is the ideal time to be going out, but totally dpeends on situation.
As for the spend its usually 1months salary i always though although again depends on the person your buying it for, the ex wanted a ring that was only £300 for her engagment ring.

Surely you'd chose the ring beforehand to propose with? How comes she was able to choose it?

Who on here is engaged? - Me and Colin
What age were you when you got engaged? - I was 19
How long were you with the other person for? - We had been together 3 years when we got engaged[
How much did you, or would you think is the right amount to spend on a ring? - I can't remember exactly how much my ring was, it was around £1300. I don't think there is a right price, its all down to what your g/f likes and how much you can afford

I'm divorced
Was planning on getting engaged next summer but mrs is now pregnant so gonna put it off a year.
I'll be 27 by then
Will be 3 years together
It's meant to be 2 months wages on a ring so I'll be looking at a sizeable chunk
Edit: To include the details of my ex
I was 21
Maybe 6 months
Ring was £1500

Who on here is engaged?
Was in the past, although ended when she decided a south african jesus lover was more interesting
What age were you when you got engaged?
Only young, was 18
How long where you with the other person for?
Around 9 months iirc (Too soon, didn't know her fully and all of her issues !)
How much did you, or would you think is the right amount to spend on a ring?
Depends on the person, a months wage is old fashioned as any woman nowadays should understand a months wage is a lot of wonga and in reality could be far better spent on living (plus would you want a missus who would prefer financial value over sentiment ?)
In my opinion now after that, i'd have to be with the current gf for a few years, make sure i know of any problems and get them sorted out, spoken about and out in the open, then I'd probably only spend what I have to to get what she wants.

Just a ring she had wanted for years and we'd spoken about it a year or so before randomly and mentioned that she would be happy with it

It's not a contest on who buys the most expensive ring, just buy a nice ring that you know your partner will like. Having said that, don't spend £20 on a ring from Argos

Who on here is engaged? not yet
What age were you when you got engaged? im 25 just now
How long where you with the other person for? been together 2 1/2 years
How much did you, or would you think is the right amount to spend on a ring? all depends, centimental value is alot greater than actual cost but most women have a dream in their head so best try match it as close as possible
Im saving some cash in a pot that may go towards a ring

I've been with the current missus for 5years+ now; I was with the ex for 4.5 years. I've never been engaged.
To me the idea of getting engaged is to get married and whilst I fully expect me and the current missus to tie the knot over the next few years; I would hate a long engagement.
Our/My/Her plan is to get our house finished and get settled in there before getting enagged and getting married within 12month of getting engaged.
These people who have 3/4/5+ years engagements annoy me as the whole point of an engagement is that it is you become engaged to marry; not just to wear a ring and use it as a fashion ststus.
My views on teenage/single mother preganancy and "shallow" engagements (ie those which have no intention of actually getting married) got me banned off my local cruise website!

But Lee you have a point though people who do that really pish me off, they are only 3 months into the relationship jsut got pregnant then get engaged, but in the long run they don't think of everything else, like bills/shopping etc. Then they split, and the mother not allowing the dad to see his don/daughter. Mianly chavs/down and outers though,

I lol'd when you said that!
One of my ex's ended up buying her own engagement ring from Argos!
Her bloke at the time said he couldnt afford it, but would pay her back, and that he'd seen an amazing ring that he wanted her to have! It cost £7.50 and he never paid her back! He wqasnt around long after that!
Though within 2 weeks of me getting with her she was already asking me to pop the question so put it off and made a fast exit!

Ring choice is easy enough for me though; I know she's size N and she collects Welsh Gold so I'll get the Clogau Cariad one for £1250
