im going to rebuild my engine can someone give ma a list of parts that would get changend on an engine rebuild just so that i know i'm doing what i should be?

are you going full hog i.e. New bolts in sertan areas and gaskets and bearings ect?

piston rings, bottom end bearings, oil pump, water pump, valve stem seals, timing belt kit and all the gaskets i.e head gasket set and bolts, sump gasket, cam seals etc

if its a 1.4 1.6 or 2.0 id do valve guides aswell as so many people complain that the things still smoke after they re build them

headbolts
water pump
oil pump
cambelt kit
rings
new pistons if bores are worn too much.
and a very good manual or find someone to do it with you who knows what their doing, or someone to do it all.

a full engine rebuild i would do
Head
Top end gasket set (that includes valve guide oil seals)
New hydrolic lifters
New valve guides
Head light skim
Have the head acid dipped or sonicly cleaned
Check the cam shaft carryers for wear (use a plasti guage to find out its clearance against stock)
New valve springs
New collits
New valves
New exhaust manifold studs & nuts
New egr (or just blank the bugger off  )
Bottom End
New cam belt kit (including tensioner and idler pulley)
New bottom end gasket set
New piston rings
Hone the bores
Possable reboar (if its to warn to hone then your looking at pistons to)
New woodruf key and crank pulley
New oil pump
New water pump
New big end and main jurnal bearings
New thrust washers (dono if these engines have them but they are what eliminates crank wander **crank shaking back and forth**)
New con rod bolts
New main bearing bolts
Fully clean out oil pick up in sump.
Get block acid dipped or sonicly cleaned
New crank pulley bolt
im sure ive missed a few things out but you get my drift

cheers lads thats just what i wanted, i have a new head and i think most of the thing you have listed were done so its manly a bottom end rebuild.
