A wise choice. Alot more of a drivers car than your golf so it should bring back the enjoyment of driving

I used to have a 200bhp jdm dc2. Nice car; although I was always scared of breaking something - the running costs are high compared to vauxhalls etc.

If you look at one check the oil filter; if its not running a genuine Honda filter then walk away; some of the other makes are shocking.
Check for diff/gearbox knocks and burning oil.

oh, don't buy my old one, I bent all the rods and warped the crank lmao

Rust on them shouldnt be a problem aslong as you get a JDM one. Don't get a UK one, they never make the power of what the JDM ones do, and they look gash.

They do - it's if things break - a gearbox is £500 instead of £50 (for an F20). An oil filter is £11 instead of £2 ; the best oil for them is £50 instead of £15 etc.

Thats IF things break. Although Dave is being realistic, the chances are slim - next to no chance of it going wrong.

Tearing your engine apart like I did is very slim; but I disagree with the rest of your statement mate.

Most dc2s will have a HARD 70k under their belts now. 3rd gear synchros are probably the most common problem; again £300+ to fix.

Check on www.itr-dc2.com to see how many 'faults' people have with their cars; mainly "noises" and "knocks"

But thats on a forum. It makes it seem like alot as everyone on their will have one and have problems. Im going from personnal experiences with my friends and others I know. Ragged the shit out of and they never went wrong. A forum is always going to promote the bad points and make it seem like the majority.

Or maybe I just have far too much faith in Honda

I don't think double clutching when driving through this would have saved my engine; LMAO

This was the result:

..and this was the car;

I have a Uk DC2. They are brilliant cars. Good on fuel (when not in vtec!) Very reliable.

Mine runs 270bhp (with Nitrous kit) without any problems, and its my daily driver.

Definately recommended!

What makes you think a straight swap would be pretty achievable??Because your car would be similarly priced to a DC2??

are you taking the piddle? i always ran halfords own on never made a piff of differance. 3rd gear sync are the only thing that really go on them, rust aint an issue if its jdm, just make sure its been undersealed

Yer other then synchro issues I havent heard of much else going on. Just a shame most of them are high milers now. But as said that isnt really an issue mechanically.

Uk ones arnt that bad and for me I would go uk

UK insurance =£650 FC
JDM insurance = £1700 FC

This vid always makes me want one again

uk ones are just as cool tbh, few tasteful mods here and there. the power difference between the uk and jdm can't be felt either
