Parallel parking and reverse into a bay should both be compulsory imo, the number of people that hold a full licence yet can't park is a joke so I can't see how only making people perform 1 is going to help in anyway.

Agreed
I did Reverse in a road and a 3 point turn...and an emergency stop as well as a parallel park at the end. Only 2 however were assesed.

I think people should be assessed on questions based on the maintaince and operation of a car. So many people dont know the difference between an MOT and a service. I also think if people actually knew how a car engine, clutch, gearbox (simplisticly) works, then they will appreciate driving it more. O and the in car controls. The other day i had to explain to a girl mate, what her rear fog button was, what it did, when to use it etc. and the difference between sidelights and dipped lights

I think the test shouldn't be "by the book" I think get them to drive it the way they would, then if they are shit, fail them.
There are so many shite drivers out there that did it by the book and got bugger all minors and passed, then became utterly crap at driving, thats what annoys me.

A girl mate of mine always left her rear window heater on because she didn't know what it did. She got confused at the fact that the rear window can steam up and that you press that button to get rid of it
