Anyone got all their services from Virgin?
Currently on BT Line, O2 Broadband (Max ADSL speed here is 2.5meg), SKY tv but looking to move it all over to Virgin as they are offering 20meg DSL, V+ HD tv, cheaper line rental.
Overall its a little more, but if their services are any good i'll definately go for the switch-a-roo

a lot of people will slate them, i have thhe works, but not sports or movies, and i love it. hd channels (11 now) are awesome, standard definition is 720p anyway with VM, V+ is awesome.
i had sky, and way prefer virgin. internet connection is silly fast as well!

Do you get much throttling during peak times? Which package are you on for your BB? (10 / 20 / 50)

john not sure about boxes, mine is v+ so has hdmi.
voyto, im on the 20mb bb, speedtest.net always shows 19.37mb connection, and torrents are average 1mb/s. have seen 5/6mb on very few torrnts but 99% is 1mb.
i havent noticed any throtling, but i now dl torrents every other day as opposed to continuosly.

Note that virgin media offers ADSL as well as Cable for Broadband and that the ADSL side of things is truely toss. Their cable broadband is a bit hit and miss, although the folks have had their cable bb for around 8 years (back when it was cabletel) and have never had any serious issues. Any problems they did have were sorted there and then.
As for throttling, it can be a bit of a bugger but as long as you keep the majority of your downloading to the evenings and night it doesn't really come into play. You'll only get throttled if you hammer the connection during the day time (think it's 9 to 8 or so).
John - Only the V+ box has HDMI, standard def boxes just have scart (some have RF outputs).

Isn't putting out 720p as standard if the best it has is scart then or do you mean everything on the V+ box is upscaled to 720p?

The V+ box upscales standard def to 720p on the HDMI/Component outputs. The scart on the V+ Box outputs straight 576i. And obviously you can only view/get HD material with the V+ Box.
All other Virgin boxes (Pace/Samsung) just output 576i via scart or RF.

Nope.
I have Virgin for Phone and Broadband (50MB) and free TV and the broadband is top. Give it the right feeds and it hits 50MB without fail. Only problem I have had is the router loosing sync a few times but think thats down to the router not modem.
As for TV I would never swap my Sky HD for Virgin. For normal SD virgin is not too bad but for HD its no competition for me. Sports in HD is soo nice, also the red button stuff on Sky is really useful that you can't get on. Planner is also better than the virgin one. I hate going back to the parents and using thier virgin box.
+ points for Virgin are...ESPN for free, iplayer although navidation is dire, on demand.
