I saw an LED 55" today, was only an inch thick. Very nice... 2.5k though...

Panasonic or Pioneer are what people usually recommend if you have the money. Have a look on John Lewis, rather buy from them than Comet or Currys

I would seriously advice you to wait till boxing day!! Some awesome deals pop around in Currys, Comet etc!
I feel 42" is too small now when Im looking at them

The S10 is the model below the G10, we've got the 42" in our backroom, that'll be cheaper if those two above are expensive.

Make sure you have plenty room! Ive got a samsung 50" plasma makes up most of the room plus the heat that you get from it

A mate just bought the 42 version of nismo's looks very nice, not 1080p tho.
Panasonics seem to be the recommended for plasmas of all sizes. Pixmania were the best priced I could find for most TV at the moment, they've got a bit of a sale on.

So is 1080p what I should be aiming for? Really dont have a clue about tv's.

1080p is the Full HD, as opposed to HD Ready which is 720p.
Not sure you can really tell the difference, but if you're spending that much on a TV it's worth getting the most up to date you can?
Most 50" plasmas seem to be 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio.
imo, looks for 1080p, Highest Ratio, and the screen resolution, higher the better essentially.
