Just sourced me a set, just wondering on fitment, research says its trial and error but others say the circlip needs to be moved inwards by 6 millimetres? anyone have any experience and shed a bit of light from a calibra into xe corsa.
Thankyou

I thought I remember you saying you didn't bother spacing your gearbox?

yep. i know loads of people who use them in corsa and tigra's and none of them have moved the circlip groove at all. thats why i just banged them in. its had a lot of abuse and i cant say ive noticed any issues.

I fitted mine without moving the groove and did notice the leg was pushed out more than it should be, Camber looked crap on that side.
Wasn't hard to do, Just lopped off a bit of the shaft and moved the groove back the same amount as I removed.

Beats me, I built the car up and sat it back on it's wheels. The nearside wheel was tucked in at the bottom.
After modding the shaft they're now both the same.
Edited for clarity.

i just cant see that happening or even how thats possible. im maybe wrong as i dont know a great deal about the effects of driveshaft length on camber as its not something ive ever came across or heard of before.
just the way the hub, ball joint, tie bar etc all attach i cant see at all how it can. as i say, im more than likely wrong though.

I know like me you assume the lower arm actually keeps the wheel in the correct place.
There definitely was a problem with the camber with the full length shaft.

Right, With the longer shaft the wheel was fixed at the bottom by the lower balljoint but the top of the wheel was being pushed out.
Exactly how and why I do not know, All I can comment on is experience which both me and my mate noticed the car had toe in with the standard shaft.

ok thanks.
edit, arent toe and camber completely different? which one was it that was affected? if it was toe, then did you try and adjust the track rod end at all?

Terry almost everyone I've seen has fitted the long shaft without any problems. It's usually the short shaft (Passenger side) that causes people problems . . .

Maybe the shaft castle nut wasn't or couldn't be tightend enough and it affected the camber.

Sorry I was tinking of something else then. lol
It was camber which was affected, The top of the wheel was pretty close to touching the arch the camber was out that bad.

It is the N/S shaft I had problems with, when I said long shaft I meant uncut shaft as opposed to the one I cut down.

im completely unclear at anything you have written now. seem to just contradict the whole time.
can you clarify what shaft it was that you had a problem with and was it camber issue or toe issue? and did you measure the camber or just guessing? as sometimes a wheel toe in or out can mistakenly look like camber when it isnt to an untrained person.
