White bastard. Was in mcdonalds today and was called a white bastard by one of the staff. He was saying it jokingly but there were four of us and we were all shocked by what he said.
I am wondering, would he get sacked if I had took the liberty to tell his superior?
There were 4 witnesses to this. What would happen?

If he said it jokingly then why bother? Unless he's a nob anyway.

If you called a black person a black bastard it would be a completely different story, complain if he offended you.

I can't stand people who take offence to nearly anything, "im offended" ..intresting, now shut up, but complaining, seriously does fuck all, just don't get annoyed at it.

Personally, be a man, and get on with it

You can complain, as fowl language and racist comments should never be used when dealing with customers. But my only question is why he would just randomly call you that? There must have been some kind of banter between the two of you in order for him to call you that ?

And just for my own curiosity (so no indention to offend), but why did you take offence? What race are you? What race was he ?

I was once refered to as albino by one of my work colleagues... that man later became my team leader...

I always felt their were racist undertones and but i never got him the sack.

He's "asian"; not the chinese type.
I'm white.

I didn't actually take offence. As said previously, it's the principle. Had I called him something the same [me being in the place of him (him being the customer, me being staff)] He'd have caused a real problem.

There was no banter between me and him; but he works with one of my friends and decided to call us bastards and I asked him what he said, and he chose to rephrase it with "white b******s".

I didn't find it that funny cause I don't think someone who I don't know choosing to make racist remarks around me is acceptable.
Had I known him personally, I would have laughed.

Suppose I should have took action on the spot really. I'm only saying it for the principle. RACISM is not acceptable; in my eyes, anyway.

Yeah

I rang you up once, pretended to be someone else... and said 'Hi, is Paul there?' ... you were like 'no.' I said 'oh right, I'm looking for Paul, can you describe him so I can recognise him when I find him'...

You answered... 'Well, he's a skinny, albino looking guy'

Or something to that effect! Prick!

no he was in the pub and was going on about some lad that is scared of him "for some reason". so i just said "it's probably because you're a suicide bombing bastard". it was said in a joking way and thats how he took it. if the guy was having a laugh with you then why would you want to get him fired? at least he has a job and is trying to earn a living...

Again, principle. You are not seeing my point at all.
And, your reference "trying to earn a living"; was that a dig at me?
Or are you talking about the "freeloading scum of england?"

I don't want to get him fired I just wanted to know if it's a sackable offence. Like many things you could do at work but not get fired I wanted to see if making a racial remark AT WORK is one of the things.

Company policy may make you take a disciplinary shift drop or something else that could be used as a punishment.
I'm not against you on this one, but still, I wouldn't be making any racist remarks to anyone; you just don't know how people are going to take it; even if you are joking.

Exactly, I was a stranger to the guy in McD's. I'm glad one person is seeing my point.

I don't remember that ? Did that really happen ?

Besides if you listened carefully, there is a compliment in there....

I said you were skinny !
