I love how this guy comes up with new solutions to things that haven't changed on a fundamental level for years. Very talented bloke/team that works for him.

The problem was, you trying to use a desk fan as a hand dryer...

I thought the hand dryers were pretty good myself.
Wish I had his brains!

If it sounds anything like the hand driers then it'll be as quiet as a jumbo jet taking off.

It does have blades, they're just not in the conventional position.
IMHO he's solved a problem which doesn't exist.

That is very true, I've never found myself wishing my fan didn't have blades

its more powerful and directional than a standard fan from what Ive read.
He wasnt looking to solve a problem, he was looking to evolve a current idea.

So its just a ducted fan really?
We have them hand driers at work, I think they are slightly quicker at drying, the damn things switch off sometimes when your hands are still moist too

I dont think it uses a traditional blade like proper fans anywhere in it, I think it uses a similar technology to his vacuums, which was then adapted for use in hand dryers.

It's not so much problem solving as refinement of an existing design.
You could argue that a conventional Hoover picks up dirt, but his design does perform better and is less hassle to empty and reuse. Just as this fan moves air like a conventional one, but is much easier to keep clean and has a more gentle airflow.
The only thing against his work is the generally significant margin between the price of his designs and the nearest conventional item.

Dyson Air Multiplier
I massively want one now by the way.
Oh and has anyone read any of the comments? There's some gibbering freak on there accusing Dyson of all sorts and pretty much accusing all of us of being pretty much satan as far as I can approximate.

Random fact, Marcus Hartley the guy behind designing the Airblade's went to Huddersfield Uni and i remember seeing him around campus
Although £200 for a desk fan is a little
