Another what have you got/need some ideas thread.
At the moment my living room is all mismatched, black wood, pine, glass, metal etc so want to try and uniform it all and get something fairly nice. Also DVD rack has gotten far to small so needs replacing/another anyway.
Now 2 options I have, buy a full suite/matching bits from various places - Large Coffee Table (3 x 1.5m), TV Stand, DVD Rack (To hold 500+) in black gloss. Been looking around but can't find anything that matches that criteria for the whole set and under my budget (want quality but dont want to spend more than £400).
So second option and to me more sensible is to make my own, I can do fairly good DIY (although a complete novice so it takes me 15 times longer than a pro) and have the tools to so that wouldn't be a problem. Only thing is i'm fairly fussy and would want perfect is the final finish. I'm after a gloss black, is this easily do-able with normal gloss paint ? How could it be protected as (the table for certain) will get heavy abuse !
Any ideas/advice please go ahead

some nice stuff in next but bloody expensive. Spose you get what you pay for though! I've got all ikea stuff so far but that's because ikea is 15miles away and cheap being on a budget.

i paint quite a bit of furniture for customers, did some work for a wedding shop with a load of antique furniture in gloss white.
heres a mdf bathroom cabinet and splash back
and some drawers i did for my gf's dad.
the brown was primed and rubbed down first and the drawers just primed and painted

normal automotive paint neo, as long as a suitable primer is used then you can pretty much use what you want, could go flip tone if you wanted
