i dont realy understand how insurence works but this is pretty much whats happend..
ive owned 2 redtops both insured as 1.2's jokes 2.0ltrs and a 325 nothing major i no but today i facyied a change, been looking at a wrx sti. phoned my insurence company adrain flux and they wont insure me unless ive owned one for a year? well how do i do that if i cant insure one to start with. tried other insurence company and to be honest not alot were intrested,i havernt had bans etc.only 2ncb and 3points but didnt realise how much of a pain it would be to get insured.companys will at silly money and a few will do resonable prices, i.e. 1500ish but with £350 deposit, and this close to xmas thats alot to me,after xmas well towards end of january i can but i want it now.any ideas, anyone else had the same kind of problems?

It's not just the cars' performance they take into consideration. The Impreza is a popular car... For young wreckless drivers and theifs.

Get a UK for a start i only pay £500 to insure mine.
Try Gary Moulson at Keith Micheals and Rob at A PLAN.There both the best you will get no problem.I'm with Rob and he's a very sound guy and knows all about the mods etc

Oh yeah my UK is a world away from my last 320 brake WRX classic allow circa 2K for some mods though and you'll see off a standard STI.

Classic is the shape... Classic / Newage (bug eye, blob eye, hawk eye etc)
UK 2000 is the model or the run of the mill UK 'classic' impreza
JDM - Jap Domestic Market
STi - is the 280+bhp jap version with adjustable diffs etc
WRX is the run of the mill JDM classic

What is lacking on the UK 2000s from the STIs? Power difference? I've been looking around and there seems to be so many different options. Some have red tops and some do not? Whats all the closed closed deck stuff?

semi forged pistons allowing for more power
seats
styling
power differences vary
Red top is just the colour of the manifold on STI engines. but apart from the colour there is no difference or gains to be had from one.
closed deck blocks are from very early STI's and have closed water jackets around the cylinder making a much stronger block as oppsed to a fully open one (open deck block) or a semi closed deck block.

its helps to have a history of performance cars, or having owned it a while. try keith micheals or a-plan.
