i have a straight thru system on my corsa let. with no cat etc will this be a defo fail when i take it for its mot? if so any suggestions

Tell him its a pre cat aged engine.

i just said i would be offended if he shoved anything up my corsa lol make friends with MOT tester like i did hehe

yeah i told him it was a older engine but he said it all goes on the age of the car mines a t reg. i dont realy get much time at home either to go chattin to them either guess im screwed then!

It just goes on whatever is older - if you had a mk2 astra GTE engine (20XE) in you car, it wouldn't require a cat. But if you had, for example, a 1985 car with an engine from a 1995 car you wouldn't need one either. I've got a decat on my motor and had a look at the rules, not dead sure if the second part's correct but the first bit defientely is so your tester's talking balls.

But a LET wasn't available out the factory in any cars without a cat was it? Needs to be a car/ engine registered on or before 1st August 1992.

edit to say, I can't find anything to back me up with the second part. Basically I mean it in the way that if you put an X18XE1 (just for example) from a mid 90's car into a 1989 Nova I don't think you would need to run a cat. But as I'm saying I'm not sure.
