hey all now im rely close to getting all the arches and bumpers back on , but i dont want to put the back arches back on until iv sorted out the wheels from rubbing, im running som sxi wheels and was wondering what could be done to stop it from rubbing ?? was thinking lower profile tyres but how much would i get out of that ?? also thought about some stretched tyres on the back but also what clearence would that give me?? and what would be the better option ?? (oh and dont ask me what tyres afre on now lol because i havent got a clue lol )

195 45 15 tyres
take the arch bolts out at the top (tiger seal them on)
pull arches out a little bit
wont catch what so ever then..

like mk4_boy said, with lower profile tyres it should be fine.

195/45/15s are the best tyres for a corsa on any 15" rims (unless wide)
and will give you enough clearance to stop them catching, if not it will reduce it a lot and will only need minor arch work..

disagree tbh. 195/50/15 is the ideal size for any aspect of driving.

Why do you think that Nic?

ive had 195/45/15's and its a lot more uncomfortable to drive. 195/50 has bit more sidewall which give it a touch more flex which will make it handle a touch better. thats my views. plus they are a bit cheaper for a decent tyre as its a common size.

if i had another corsa (for the road) i would no doubt get 195/45 tyres just look so much better and give that extra clearance you need when going low (reason why i stated that size)
if the thread was asking about track tyres etc, i would have stated 195/50s as you said they have a little more flex in side wall resulting in better handling..

oh right, i never really pick tyres based on looks. i go for road holding, handling, grip etc.

but a eagle f1 195/45/15 is very good all round tyre, looks good (not a balloon tyre like 50s do) and good for clearance..

50's dont look like balloon tyres at all.

i would just get some decent 195/45s and be done with it, more then enough for most road corsas..

well you obviously know where im coming from, the lad wanted to know what tyres he would be best with for clearance so i said, and imo for a road car with 15" wheels a decent brand 195/45 tyre is more then enough to do the job..
then you try and have a dig with the " stance as you call it later"
grow up..

tbh, im not entirely sure you know what you are going on about in regards to lowering anymore. its becoming plain rediculous.
i have grown up. id rather be safe than make a car worse to drive just so it looks more scene.

surely a bigger sidewall = worse for handling as its more flex not better, so i read some where anyways

Not trying to bum Nic or anything, but I'm pretty sure his work is something to do with tyres. So I'd be inclined to listen to him.
But one thing I can't understand is how more flex = better handling. I'd have thought that lower profile = stiffer sidewall, which would in turn give better response assuming they're good grippy tyres.
