Its a old Mk2 Golf which is most likely ready for the scrappy.
It wont start and is making an awfull grinding noise when the key is turned to start? a grinding chugling noise. like a train pulling away even. (sorry for lame explanation)
Spark plugs are fine.
Theres Oil in car.
Battery is fine
There was no water coolent in header tank but this as been topped up. still no joy?
Any ideas/advice? guessing its due to the weather why its not started?

If it had no anti freeze in the waterpump has probably frozen.
You may have fucked the engine by turning it over.
There has been a few similar threads this week.

Sounds like the starter motor's fucked mate.

wak the starter motor when trying to turn it over or tow start it
