Starting in Sydney, finishing in Cairns.
Going via Brisbane but may get an internal flight from Sydney to Brisbane as I'm not sure there is much in between.

Cool yeh i did similar to that in a car...
There aint much from sydney to Brisbane, although there is byron bay (I think below?) and surfers paradise (above?).
I really liked sydney, I stayed in the wake up hostel - was a great atmosphere... went out drinking with the people in my dorm each night.

Wake up is awesome
The tv rooms are cool and popular too, I watched Jackass 2 there when it came out

It is quite cheap. Could have not had the 2 night stopover for about £780.
Cosmo - going with a mate.

Sounds awesome esp for that price. I wanted a 4 day stay in Nice and it was more than that!

I wouldn't want to do it on my own. Everyone says you meet loads of people but I think being on your own to start with would make it harder to meet people.

Actually quite the opposite, i've been off round the world twice on my own now, being on your own makes you meet more people coz when your with a mate you do stuff together.

Yeah I agree with this, it's harder to meet more / new people when you're with a mate...
When you're with a mate, you naturally stay in your own little group (of you and your mate).
When you're on your own, people are more likely to come up say hi, ask how you are ... and you generally go up to people and say 'hey, hows it going, mind if I join you ... I've just got here and i don't know anyone?'
- where as if you know your mate that doesn't apply
-- that said, it is good to have a mate sometimes, as a lot of people will be off doing there own thing and there'll be some times you want someone to be there with you.
