Has anyone ever driven an Alfa with a Selespeed gearbox? Is it actually any good, or is it as shit as a Smart Roadster?

I'd be getting an 05-06 147. Just seen the cost of replacing the parts when it goes tits up. £1.5k for that actuator That's not even from a dealer either! No wonder 147's have such a poor resale value...

Think that's what I'll do, the Selespeed sounded like a good idea but maybe not.

Shame the face lifts are all a little bit too pricey though

One of my neighbours had a 1.9 diesel 156 with selespeed, had some problems which meant it was off the road for ages and cost alot too. When Tim (TNM) got his, he only looked for manual ones because of the problems with the selespeed. For a company that lists different cambelt kits under the same part number I wouldn't have too much faith in a hydraulic gear shift mechanism!
