I have an oyster card and when i touch it on the yellow thing it beeps once. When some people get on it beeps like 3 or 4 times. Why is this?

P.s. I rarely use buses.

It will beep like fuck if :

1. Doesnt read the oyster card correctly
2. Low on prepaid credit
3. Not enough credit

Most people don't give a shit though. If they swipe it and it beeps like a shitter, they see it as TFL's problem and dont blink an eyelid. The buses can be fair dodged easily, different story on the tube though.

The bendy buses are commonly known as the "free bus" as most people get on at the back and don't even bother swiping. Or if they do and have no funds on the card they stay on anyway.
