Rio400, something like 120 US Gal. Sprayed the trim white and on its own custom stand (only part done there, it has shelves in now and glass sliding door. Its currently sat there empty as I decide what to do with it.
My 275 US Gal tank, made all the stand (again not finished in this pic). In the process of setting this one up. Have fitted a full Back to Nature 3D Amazon background. Will be filtered by 2 Fluval FX5's.

I tend to put some prawns or similar in an old net or a pair of my old tights - after a week or so in there they have spiked the ammonia right up and the tank starts its cycle.

have you cycled ur tank saxo???? also you need an airpump in it to help oxygenate the water, and live plants to consume the nitrates

the plants will root into the sand/gravel or some can be left in pots if they come in pots, but you really dont need plants tbh the fish tank will cope very well with out them, one thing you HAVE to get though is a bulldog plec

basically if you put fish in now they will all die as the filter has not built up any beneficial bacteria and the ammonia from the fish i.e fish poo, wee, uneaten food etc is called ammonia, it is poisonous to fish and will kill them.
you need to get beneficial bacteria into the filter so it consumes the ammonia (fish poo, wee, uneaten food etc)
you can do it 2 ways with fish in which is very bad as they will have a hard life or without if you would like me explain exactly what to do i can help you.

mollies and guppies are the "starter fish" of course they are hardy, i never lost any, ended up with over 100 guppies though, they bred and bred

hmm ive read different lol mollies prefer brackish water which has a small blend of salt in it, brackish water is where sea meets the rivers in their natural habitat and i thought guppies were reasonably hardy but not like platy's and cherry barbs etc etc

plus ur guppies and mollies would have lived a very hard life even though they probably looked ok from the outside lol..
to be honest saxo-tom i would go get x2 platy's and some beneficial bacteria in a bottle from pet shop as explaining the fishless cycle is very very time consuming..
also go to pets at home and by a API master test kit this will help you through ur cycle.
