insurance DRAUMATICLY change when u change your occupation on confused .com

i changed from being a builder to a student to see how much il be paying next year and it went up £500

surely it should be cheaper for students who earn £0

I've always just put my occupation as a student when getting quotes Maybe thats why ive been getting silly ones lately!

When putting my mum on my insurance one year, they wouldn't quote me because she's a nurse But as Jake said, you'll probably use your car a lot more being a student than someone working a full time week.

Does it actually matter what you put though? yes you could say it voids your insurance but would they honestly check what job you do after a claim? always seemed abit pointless

Different ocupations come with different risks. Bouncers are a high one i think along with some others.

I've never understood that one, my old man is a company director at his scrap yard and gets crucified if he puts that.. Its not like he transports a load of rebar and girders in his yaris

i tried getting round this by putting "unemployed" it wasnt any more expensive but they wanted the full year upfront,well surely if i were unemployed i wouldnt have the money to pay a yrs insurance upfront

i work offshore, you would think i would get ab good bit cheaper as i am only using the car for less than half the year! and thats only in winter when i cant use my bike!


insurance is bullshit, we should have a thing like Oz, where they pay $300 a year for road tax that comes with third party insurance, although then you end up with 17 year olds driving V8 utes and crashing everytime it rains ha ha

Plumber is fine for me,

I put my mum on as a house wife and it went down £200ish and then I added my dad on also as a plumber and it went down another £150ish

I didnt tell them about my dads TS10 though
