so this morning its -5 outside and i get into my car, in my car on the passenger seat i had a 1.5 litre bottle of water unopened, i looked at it and the water was not frozen, i picked it up and the minute i picked it up it just went white from the bottom upwards and froze in the space of 10 seconds in my hand,

anyway was just really weird, was like something out a science fiction film, someone at work said its a logical reason for it, anyone know what it is? was pretty cool.

Was it a bottle of pure water?

Pure water doesnt freeze until something stupid like -20, as soon as any particulates get in there it freezes.. If you opened it or stired it up it probably made it freeze instantly.

I've experienced this too when getting a bottle of water out the fridge. Did it freeze when you opened it or just held it? It can happen due to pressure changes as water freezes at a lower temp under pressure therefore as you open the bottle, it will suddenly freeze.

I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

Pure H2O freezes at exactly 0 deg C.

happens because the water is disturbed and the reaction happens.
