Now i bought one of these agees ago as an impulse buy cos it looked cheap, havent really played it, mate now has one and we both have mario kart.. can we play each other over wireless from miles away or do they have to be close to each other?

Yes you can play Mario Cart:
If you and your friend have the Game you can either play in the same room via the Wifi.
You can also play if only one of you have the game via WiFi in the same room.
And you can play from the other side of the Earth via the internet! but you both need the same game!

you also need unsecure or WEP (good for nothing)
