i have a 2000 corsa c

last week or so theres been a quiet noise, comes from the back and it sounds like something is touchin as the wheel turns, like a quiet grinding/whirring noise.. hard explain.

anyway, only really happens when i start off, seems to go after not long.

and... my breaks squeel for the first few times of breaking each journey, but that seems to stop too.

so, being a person who know little about cars, im thinking maybe brakes r sticking when i stop and take a bitta time to unstick, something along them lines?

does that sound about right? could it be anything else?

thanks in advance!

well if its making a grinding/greating noise from the rear wheels its one of 2 things, ether your shoes are rubbing againt the drum (not adjusted properly) or your wheel bearing is going/ needs adjusting, if its the second one then they can and most probably will fail the mot on it..

a lot of b's tend to lose there rear wheels when there owners ignore noises like the ones your describing so do yourself a favor and get it checked pronto insted of leaving it.. better safe than sorry tbh

On my old 1.2 8v the rear drums made a grinding noise due to being full of shit, a wee clean out and it was all better

try leaving your car in gear rather than using the hand brake and see if it still does it then

Just had my MOT, wheel bearings are fine.

He did say he has alot of corsa's with stuck brake shoes and the noise is just them sticking on,

Probs best you still getting them checked out, just incase it is more than them getting stuck

i always thought this was after they had been stood for a while, moisture in the air makes a bit of rust form on the inside of the drum, after a few presses it wears off
