Im booked to go on a trackday at OultonPark on tuesday. On reading the details of the day i noticed the noise testing and noise level of 105db.
Can anyone give me a rough example of how loud that is? As i think mine might be louder. Ive got a Sportex racetube and a Magnex backbox.
Might have to find a standard backbox.
Cheers guys.

Have you still got a cat?
My 1.2 has got a custom cat-back system with no centre box and a fairly small back box. That's 91db.
Is the 105db at Oulton not driveby?
I thought it was a static 100db and 105db driveby?

I'm wrong, just read on there, static 105db. They monitor driveby figures but it'll only be a problem if those figures are particularly higher than cars that had a similar static figure. I imagine that's just in case of people using temporary measures to get through the static test.
It's all in here Noise Regs

for reference....
Our skyline passes a static test at 97dB and the Impreza 98dB
Both have quiet exhausts, but you'll be ok if you have an exhaust with a centre box and back box. A straight through drainpipe would give issues.

bend the truth about your redline too. Its measured at a certain angle, certain distance and at 3/4 of red line. Say your car revs to 6000rpm.
I never tell them our cars go to over 8000rpm Always 7000rpm
