Depends which shape you prefer.
The 1.8 C will be quicker than the Sport.

Did the driver of the C know what he was doing? I could understand it losing in a race due to it being heavier (at least I think its heavier) but 'whooping' it... Prehaps I'm wrong but I would've said that'd be a close race.

Powerboxes make a fair difference on the X16XE's iirc

I've gone from a B (albeit 12v) to a 1.8 C and don't regret it in the slightest. Personally I much prefer driving the C because it feels a lot more modern rather than a metal box with a steering wheel. Plus I prefer the overall looks.

Standard backbox No Irmy kit though, but it's a black C!

I think whooped is a bit of a strong word to use.A 1.6 B with a powerbox will be roughly the same power as a 1.8 C so i cant imagine he pissed all over it TBH.

I have owned both (Own the 1.8 C now) And love it LOADS more then my previous B's.There just alot more modern,Look nicer,Drive better & more comfy Etc Etc.This is just my opinion though.

This question seems to crop up every week atm, I would have thought they would be pretty close in a race as well, the 1.8 is no zlet but it certainly isn't a slow coach. The 1.6's go well too but they are starting to get on... test drive both see what you prefer tbh, the C will be newer (in my opinion handles better than a B) but some people prefer B's, cheap, simple to work on for a diy mechanic plenty of simple mods out there. I prefer how a B drives but the C is much more refined in my opinion.

I know, hence why I said it makes a good difference to the X16XE Otherwise I would have said Z18XE

If Parkers is to be believed then the C is only 53kg heavier than a 1.6 Sport.

Same here, i've gone from a corsa B 1.4/1.8 onto my new today corsa-C 1.8 which in fairness doesn't compare to in comfort, handling and performance standard to standard the C is absolutely lovely and pulls a fair bit in standard form

Could imagine a powerbox 1.6 VS a standard C winning yes as a powerbox makes a hell of a difference, but whooping it, it be close I would think.

I totally didn't edit my post because I got the engine code wrong...

Anyway, anyone who knows these things would know it's not an X18XE and that one of those is a big block engine not found in the C

If I've done this right then the B 1.6 Sport has 101 bhp/tonne whereas the 1.8 C has 113 bhp/tonne (although it might be ton, I can never remember which is the metric one. Whichever...).

ive got a black c, looks pretty much identical to craig p's (LeeM off corsa-c craig)
ive only got a 1.4 sri and only had a 1.0 b but the c overall is a much better car imo, handles better as standard, smoother quiter and more solid with more toys.

This is true. I got mine for just under 4k but most are over that in my experience. A B could be had for £1500 I'd reckon.

Spot on B's are very basic whereas C's do feel that much more modern.

Lee, that's pretty good! There are always loads for sale around 80k miles because people can't be bothered with getting the cam belt changed Mine's on 48k with two owners, 12 months MOT and 2 months tax.

Noble one I mean a decent condition 1.6 Sport with good mileage etc comparable to a good C.
