Had the golf remapped and this highlighter a few problems that needed sorting.(pd130)

So far we found:
Fucked Actuator with bolt that wont come out so turbos got to come off,
Leaking intercooler
leaking pipes with fucked lugs from turbo to the intercooler

Now to fix that its priced up at about,
£266 for intercooler brand new from VW
£86 for the actuator
£100 gasket kit
4hr's at £45 a hour
that totals up at £740 with the labour time for fitting the intercooler and all pipes.

I have been offered this fitted with the actuator fixed for £1060

Is it a case of him ripping me off?

Im trying to look at it from a ''spend a little extra and upgrade'' point of veiw but im struggling

you should only need a turbo to exhaust manifold and if you have massive boost leaks did you not notice this before??

Look to see if anyone makes boost pipes for the golf, the ones on the ibiza/fabia are shite and often blow off when mapped

i have universal cheap intercooler on corsa. Was about 100 quid. 3 year later over 1.6 bar boost still no leaks. A lot of people slag the cheaper stuff off as it doesnt have a name that fits in with being cool. Its obviously better to say forge inter cooler than ebay special when talking to people.

Loved ever moment of owning it apart from the speedo drive going, and a cv joint going. still running, just need to clean her up to sell her.

I actually miss the rawness about the corsa, people say they dont handle, bollocks.

Smallblock for handling
Bigblock for power

Forge = scene

tbh, people tend to buy things like forge as they are simple bolt on jobs, no messing around, have instructions etc.

cost vs diy though all just for a name. seems silly to spend loads when other options much cheaper and same outcome.

Totally agree with you! I know on the Mk4 Ibiza's, the Forge one is about £700 and you have to chop the crash bar to bits and butcher the bumper, where as you can get the Seat Sport one which came on the cupra's for about £250 from Seat which comes with a new crash bar!

Same with Miltek exhausts, yeah they might be a good exhaust, but £700 for a cat back? No thanks I will go for a full custom system for cheaper!
