I should probably explain, my sisters 1.2 8v trip doesnt have a cigarette lighter and needs a 12v outlet to charge stuff

I'd imagine you could connect it into the ignition live and then a negative somewhere and it will work. In cars with a lighter socket they're connected to the clocks. A 5p jumped in mine once and killed the speedo. Revs kept working though  Fortunately it was just a fuse

Insulated sockets are cheap enough to buy if you want to put a cig lighter socket in, if it was me i'd run a 12v ignition from the fusebox
