Info on this model please "v3 version 3 subaru impreza sti (1997)"

No stupid comments just good plain simple info and advice, like...

What they like to live with
Do they cost the earth if looked after
Things to look for when buying
Ones to avoid

Think that covers all, if not then feel free to add.

they are ok if you look after them and tune them sensibly.

Try and get a known UK (been in UK for a while) car with some history. Avoid car with noises, or little niggly problems (that the owner tells you are an easy fix... if they are easy why isnt it fixed).

My V2 MY96 was a fresh import, but blew up after a few months and cost £3k to rebuild

I could write an essay on this but you are definately better to do your own research on Scoobynet will be more productive. As AK says history is everything, find one thats been here a while and has folders or receipts/documentation.

If i were to give you one piece of advice though when buying a 13 year old classic STi I would pay top dollar for one that has been rebuilt but a reputable tuner like API or Zen and had sensible mods or I would keep at least 4k in the bank because its not a case of if it lets go but when... trust me on that.
