Heya guys, got a few questions for you. I got a feeling my valve stem seals are going on my corsa (X14XE). Whats the ways to tell and be 100% sure it is the valve stem seals and not something else? The reason I think there goin is because it smokes a bit, when I start it sometimes. Not all the time tho... :S..as far as I can see, the rocker cover gasket is slightly leaking, but I dont think that would make it smoke etc..?
Also, What sort of price would I be looking at to get it done? Or is there someone in the berkshire or SL postcode area willing to do it for me?
Thoughts guys..
Thanks

smoke can be 1 of two things worn rings , or valve stem seals , if your milage is above 70000 it could very well be piston rings if below id say its just valve stem seals . get a compresion test done if compresion is ok then u know its stem seals , as for how much to get done id say itl be a couple of hundred as they have to remove the head and cams and valves , if your mechanicaly minded i recomend doing it yourself save yourself a small fortune! hope that helps mate

As jamesy1990 said do a compression test if thats ok and it only smokes a bit on start up then just keep an eye on the oil level and live with it like me, mine does the same as do lots of others, just keep the oil at max and use 15/40 if its really bad then do the job yourself and save money.
