Anyone done this before?
I have a media center and to be honest the fans are getting on my nerves.... was thinking a CPU cooling kit to start.
VGA Card should be fine... I would like to cool the hard drive but there isnt space in my case for that.
Thoughts?

Had it on 2 previous PC's, ripped it out and went back to air because maintaining it was a PITA.

I only use the PC for Divx playback really, but find it better then DivX hard drives they alwyas seem toi have one file format they cant play or sound get jumpy.
This seemed the best solution, but now im wondering what to do cos the fans just bug me

I had similar problems with my HTPC - noisy fans etc - then just replaced it with a Acer Revo which is silent and plays back everything I can throw at it.

Aye, try replacing the fans with bigger, slower moving ones, as that should quieten it down a fair amount.

I have a 12cms fan installed seems to be ok, but Im fed up of it now to be honest.
Manybe an Acer Revo is the way forward as its tiny, low noise and the new dual core atoms and Nvidia ION should cope with HD play back.

Pretty sure it does. It copes with every other HD format out there but have to admit to not having much 1080p wmv stuff in my collection.

As Rob said, I'd go with an ION based unit, such as the Revo, it's by far the cheapest/most used ION unit for HTPC.
Otherwise, go for a media tank, Popcorn Hour, WDTV or Xtreamer
And yes, they'll play anything you throw at them upto 1080p.

I have a Mac Mini wired into a gigabit switch to pull files off my sbs2008 box. Does the job brilliant and even handles 1080p stuff no problem.
Really quiet and have the alimunium bluetooth keyboard and mouse.

I'm just trying this out and it won't play my 1gb mkv tv shows?
Just says no track available on the PS3 when I select them.
