Do you do it?

How far would you go?

Do you take sites like parkers as good guides?

I only ask this question as im goin to look at a car on saturday and parkers suggest the car should be a £300 cheaper then the dealer has it up for, althought the car in question only has 51k on it where as parkers valuation of the car is sayin an average of 100k

If it's 300 quid to much I would offer him a grand under what it's up for while I was drinking his tea and eating his biscuits.

I wouldnt buy a car from a dealer.. I'd go find a private seller, easier to haggle with.

Parkers is not a particularly reliable price guide but high/low mileages can have big effects on prices. Go in low, if he baulks at it throw the tea in his face, show him you don't muck about.

I've always found parkers to be 90% accurate for 90% of cars.

Unless it's something unusual it's not normally far off.

Go in hard, insult them, pick things out that dont really bother you, but could get money off, stone chips on bonnet etc, small things, maybe need new tyres in a few k miles.

Ive always been good at haggling with car's, but never experienced buying from a garage, so may well be different, just make it clear that:
1 - you dont want to pay the price hes asking
2 - you have cash with you ready
3 - your willing to talk away if its not a good enough deal

Dont let him own you and talk shit, you own him and tell him whats what

How much are these going for now ?

My dad sold his one a couple of years ago, fully loaded, all the extras, FSH and only 50k. Struggled to get 5k for it.

Don't like them myself, to slow and stupidly thirsty

they really do vary in price on age and condition and milege, as for the slow and thirsty coment, i dont need anythin fast, only do 14miles aday. and mpg isnt that bad on me bad, thing it depends how you drive them tbh

Car dealers use Glass or CAP on the whole. For a few cars I comapred them back to back at auction for example and Glass' was a lot closer to the mark.

Auctions are a bit different from buying either privately or from a dealer.
