I'm working on a uni project at the moment that has a rotating element to a building. At the base of the building there is a fast spinning turbine on an axle, on an axle on the same centre but further up I want it to be turning slower. The image below is a basic elevational section of that part, I think it would need a small gear on the fast spinning axle with a larger gear on the axle I want moving slower which I've indicated on the drawing but how would these two gears connect or work together? or am I going down the wrong route? Anybody got any knowledge on this sort of thing, If the drawing is even understandable!?

Cheers for any help

So now we're going to have a spinning science centre

Only help I can offer is the gear idea is right but I don't know how to make it work Maybe when I'm more awake

I don't know if this is the kind of thing your looking for

have the fast spinning axle on the small gear and the slow axle on the top of the large gear

Dave, would be fun eh? Think it may upset Peter when all his cables get tangled.

Taty! That would work I think, is there a name for that type of setup? Need to see how all the gears are held in etc. Cheers for that
