This is tempting me -

Although not sure how much you can believe as he claims its over 300bhp with a stage 1 remap and look at the dodgy cone filter
Still if its all good repair wise seems like a good price...

aslong as its been repaired propperly it doesn't matter what the owner thinks is true about the power.

I wouldn't give a fuck,as long s it all works, and it back to normal. You also have to think about the new owner when you sell it though, they might give a fuck

Go have a look at it only way you’ll be able to tell if it has been repaired properly, good price for a burg with only 8000 miles tho

The cat-d woudn't particularly put me off, but the rambling description and claiming over the top power probably would.

how much cheaper is it than the rest thats not a cat D. What you have got to think about is it might be harder to sell when you want to, it wont be worth as much, if it gets written off again they wont give as much money, and insurance might be slightly dearer

that needs to be at least £1000 less than a standard good condition non catagorised one. Ask what teh damage was and where is was repaired, ring them up and ask what was done etc.
I have repaired a few cat d`s and c`s for family members and there is nothing wrong with them as long as there done properly.
My mums old Audi TT set her back £4k at the time when they were booking in at £9k so can be a good way to go.

Indeed buy it and don't tell the next owner as it doesn't have to be on the V5 and isn't structural.

If the car was worth £15,000??
And got wrote off, am i right in thinking that the damage repair cost would be close to the value of the car?
Ifso, £15,000 is alot of damage imo.
Is that how it works?

They don't have to tell you about any cat damage. Its up to the potential buyer to do the right checks to ensure its fine. But obviously, if the buyer already states that, they would be a much more honest person to buy from.

Cat D can also cover stolen and recovered vehicles.

No, they are never the same.
If it's been stolen it's 99% been rallied through an estate with speedbumps as well.

My Ibiza was Cat D.
Did me 40,000 miles.
Never failed an MOT on anything except for niggles like bulbs.
Sailed through services.
Never went wrong. It cost me £30 for a fuse holder in the 4 years I had it.

Cost of hire car too, which could have been a while if there was a waiting time for parts, etc.
But who knows what goes through insurers minds.

how much is a straight burg?
11k still seems alot for a cat d. Could get a normal astra vxr for that.
Plus been a new car it must have been a fair amount to get it wrote off.
Although saying that my CTR was cat D and you could never tell. I was happy with it as I got it for about 2k less then the equivilent straight one would go for.
And I wrote it off myself anyway in the end

Look at it, its an 08 Reg car, the reason it was probly written off is cause it was so new. Seen it happen with heaps of cars, minimal damage, but only a few month old etc.
Doesnt HAVE to be a certain value of the vehicle. Look on copart.co.uk, theres a 09 plate GTR, £60k worth of car, doesnt mean theres nerly £60k worth of damage does it?
Just have a good scout over it, panel gaps etc.
Mines a Cat C, doesnt bother me, but then again, i seen it get repaired. And when i got it, book price was around £5k, i got it at a bargain.
