I am a Lover of the Vauxhall Omega. I work on them, break them etc,, so rather sad too
I have an Escort Cabriolet which has sat in my lock up for about 6 months now gathering dust. Now the other month I broke my wife's Omega which had a Mint engine, which is also sitting in my lock up gathering dust...
Can you see where this is going??
I have heard that the mighty 3.0 engine goes into a Corsa, so I assume it will also go into an Escort.
I am wondering if any of you guys that have done this conversion to your Corsa have problems getting the power down? do you just sit there wheel spinning? If not what have you done to stop it/ minimise it?
Any help will be greatfully recieved Guys and Gals

I'd imagine equal length shafts, an LSD, decent suspension and good fat tyres with a gentle right foot would make it easy to control.

3.0's only about 210-220bhp is it not? So wouldn't have too much trouble with grip as long as you know how to drive. It's cornering with a quarter of a ton weight over the front wheels I'd be worrying about.

surely you could get similiar power from a c20let with less effort and less weight over the front wheels? I guess it's kinda to say i've got a 3.0 in me corsa though

But the noise won't be in the same league unfortunately. Only reason I'd have a V6 instead of a let. Sometimes.

Well a friend of mine is a kitcar crazy fool when he was looking to engine to beat in the front of his westfield or whatever it is the Vauxhall V6 engine weighed in at virtually the same weight as the Pinto engine.....
They are suprisingly light for the engine size although, two guys came around to buy a 3.0 block with heads on etc the cams were missing, and they were thinking they were going to pick it up and put it in their van so I offered them a beer if they could My engine lift was used
so they didn't get their beer either nightmare......
So you think I will have corning issues with this 3.0 lump in the front then?
I did wonder if it would be worth the extra time and effort to make it rear wheel drie now that would be fun

I'm not one of these people in the whole 'big engine equals shite handling' bandwagon. But I know that my corsa with an XE feels quite weighty over the front wheels so I'm assuming that the V6 will be the same if not worse.
And AlunJ, Eck - granted a 3.0 would be cool as fuck and the sound is pretty good going from a couple of youtube videos. But you're looking at about twice as much at least for an LET as well... but for the record, if I was in the position where I could get a V6 or LET it would be LET all the way.

Why would you LET it all the way though?

Purely because you have more options for more power in the future.

LET is also an easier conversion as well as giving you more routes to more power.
I can't imagine it'll be easy doing the job in a car when you don't even know what you're doing for a gearbox, shafts etc.

I have just bought a Vectra 2.5 for the gearbox etc... so I might be selling a Vectra in parts very soon

Loo-Knee(what a wierd name btw) I was just saying what I think personally - don't let any sorts of comments I'm making put you off. If you've got the engine, materials and know how to put a known good engine you've got into a car then go for it. But just remember it won't all be plain sailing.

I am Chinese
I have had my doubts being honest mate not that I cant do it, just if I am doing the right thing with this car..
I fancy a project to keep me out off trouble etc... but don't want to be in the first hedge either
Thats why I thought I would ask you guys as with the Corsa being far lighter car than the omega, plus the wrong wheel drive it would be more on the even keel with the escort really....

Had to smile to myself earlier today collecting some parts from Vx to do someones car and followed an old Viva which was done up like a rally car, thought then that would be better for the engine .....
Needs some more thinking about me thinks....
