My A3 is still in the garage from its minor bump as below - the sum content of the damage was that it needed a dent (not creased/paint damaged) removing from the 1/4 panel; a new rear bumper and new trim piece under the rear lamp.

Its now been in 4 weeks and has 2 more to go, they're replacing the 1/4 panel entirely, new bumper and list of other parts...................

I had a quote from the bodyshop which did my corsa and they wanted £750 and had no intention of replacing the 1/4 and also would turn it round in 3/4 days.

Anyway I've had an Alfa Spider, 2.4L 5 Cylinder Diesel courtesy car ever since (at a ridiculous day rate covered by the third parties insurance) and thought I'd take a few more pics.
It hasn't broken down on me yet but it has cut out at 60mph twice losing all steeirng and braking! Nearly breaking my hand in the process as its almost unsteerable!

Its a competent drive and the handlings pretty good although the Eagle F1 tyres are getting low, It would be better with new tyres. Accelerations good especially for a diesel - although first gear is a bit short, second is good.

Visibility to the rear is shit, reversing out of anywhere is a challenge as there's such a big blind spot where the rear 1/4 window should be.

Oh and the boot is too small for me.

I get 40+mpg out of the Audi (1.8T Sport Petrol) and only 30-33mpg out of the Alfa driving it exactly the same and when I'm doing 500 or so miles a week you notice the expenditure.

Would I own one - errm maybe. The Audi is more functional/convenient for nipping to b&q etc but I just can't decide if I'd live with this everyday.

Surely it's a much nicer place to be inside though? I think it looks awesome outside as well, the engine sounds quirky tbh

yeah loads of space inside but the seats are not that supoortive. The Audi has deeper bolsters so supports your sides in hard cornering and holds you in. With the Alfa you use the centre console as a support

its a courtesy car so no need to be sorry - I was told I'd get a 330CI or a TT Roadster; then got this instead - can't complain too much though, its been an experience

its a claims management company on my behalf.

They only act for the patry who is nto at fault, ie me and supply the courtesy car which is in an equivalent class to my own car; the Audi is classed as a sports hatch so they have to supply something out of its catagory or better.

They also deal with settlement of the claim, recovery of any losses, they pay excesses and claim them back so apart from a few forms I don't do anything or pay a penny - everything has been done for me. Only real mickey take has been the length of time my car has been off the road considering the minimal amount of damage - only reaosn I haven't gone ape is because the courtesy car is great; if I had a Ka or similar I'd be hitting the roof.

Forza 3 made me appreciate the Brera. Nice engine sound in the game, and handled pretty well.
