I was talking to a guy at work about the 2.4 rule or what ever its called in Roulette where you always bet on the same colour and if you lose you up your bid by 240% until you win, that way you are always eventually up..
Mathematically it makes sense but I always assumed the online sites would be rigged but he's played two evenings in a row and each time he's been up more than £200
I might have to start doing this

Forget what I just typed, he just told me that he played again last night and lost it all, went about 30 times in a row on a different colour
BIG FAIL.

I think you'd reach the table maximum before long anyway.

There is no such thing as a winning system

Iv seen people win thousands off next to nothing and people lose thousands, iv seen someone cover the table bar one number and that number has come in its always luck and no system and always the house will win. Last weekend someone put £2 in an won £32, he was about to collect when his mates held in back and put it all on the table, came in at £470 odd now thats luck.

To do that you would have to initially put in around £200 most prob more
On William hill you can just spin without placing bets and just watching to see a pattern, ie 6 reds in a row and then put a bit down on black to come to. Its certainly not full proof

It's the martingale system... completely flawed.
Either it'll repeat enough times that you lose it all or you'll hit a table limit and wont be able to double again.

the reason this system gets passed around so much is
A ) logically it seems to work (ignoring the fact that you could lose many many times in a row and any table limits)
B ) on the short term it often gives profit.
I first came across it years ago while at uni, and like your mate, was going on and winning £20-£50 a night...
I remember going to lectures hailing i had found the system and i would just skim £20-£50 a day... then you get like a whole load in a row, which requires you to risk it all to bail yourself back out again.
It was at this point I decided to write a quick computer program, to simulate the roulette wheel, the amount of consequtive colours and ultimately how much profit / loss i'd make.
In just a short run, there was one streak of the same colour that it'd of required over a million to be bet to get my £1 + all the money back.
On a long enough time line using this system everyone will lose.

I reckon there is a potential system though, but not on such simple terms / conventional terms.
Essentially you design a system that is not trying to win, but accepts the fact that it will lose often, but varies depending on the loss to make sure it always breaks even or over. It also doesn't bet on convential casino games, rather maybe sitting on top of a stock market infrastructure ... e.g. betfair / spread betting on stock market.
I do believe there is still a window for both of these, however to make them work, I believe you'll need a lot of investment (money to bet with) to just win a small amount each day.

If you go to a casino (real or online) you will never win long term.
The only way is to find value. You look for where you believe the bookies have got the odds wrong for the actual chance of something happening.
I've tried and failed simply because I don't know enough about a particular spot to really forecast whats going to happen.

Spot on Andy, exactly the way to do it, and the best way to do it imo is in horse racing, because the margins are much bigger than sports like football
Although you don't last very long with bookies, i know this from both sides

By bookie I include betfair as they do have the best odds.
I spent ages trying to find a 'system' but there isn't one out there. You need better knowledge of a sport than most others and I can't/won't put in the time to get there

No there is nothing that does it for you, you have to build those yourself, but there are systems that do it
I wish i could get my hands on one, we have customers who use them but they are obviously home built software

I meant trying to find my own system. I starting building my own software to automatically bet when certain criteria were met but basically every idea I had led to nothing.
If I had the 'right' criteria the software would work, but I don't so it didn't.
Software wasn't the problem, it was working out how to make a consistant profit that I found impossible

Is your software to bet with betfair, or can your software bet with bookies automatically, betting with betfair using software is simple, betangel, gruss, a geeks toy etc, i need one that does bookies

No, was betfair only. Could probably manage to make something that worked with bookies but have never actually tried it myself.....

That's what i need to look into, setting up something that can place bets with bookies
Cant believe there is nothing freely available to buy though tbh
