Dunno if this is the proper section but here goes, basically car was being driven and then changed gear in normal driving mode fashion, not kicking the shite out of, the engine died and car came to a halt and wouldnt turn bk over. It went into ARNOLD CLARK vauxhall and they put it on diagnostics and to sum astonishment the car had revved to 9166RPM now am no mechanic but a find that insane from a 1.2 sxi. Just wondering if any 1 can shed any help on this?
Thanks

Changed down a gear instead of up.
Engine isn't built to go to 9000 rpm, hence blows up.

Stored in the ecu for situations exactly like this.

Must have changed down. And the Ecu probably stored some data regarding the RPM.

don't lie to us we all know you changed down a gear and are trying to pass it off as you driving it normally.
you were racing, probably tried to changed from 3rd to 4th and got 2nd whilst on or near the limiter in 3rd

My mate did this in his 1.2 punto, i believe he was doing about 80 in 5th, went to drop it down to get a bit more power but 'slipped' and went into reverse, engine went bang, everyone laughing, had to walk home.

Maybe if the belt has slipped, would have thought it might have thrown a rod or something with the way it's happened though.
Moka, I know a guy that had a mint Fiesta XR2. His girlfriend was insured on it (can you see where this is going...) and he asked her to pick him up from town one night. She was coming along the motorway at about 60mph and managed to find reverse. The car promptly shat out the gearbox, the car went right over it and fucked the floorpan which ended up in it being written off.

only problems with corsa d's i've heard of are the corsa vxr engines, but that's when they've been remapped iirc?
is this what you are referring to?

Vauxhall check the ECU logs now for abuse, if they can prove the car has been bouncing off the limiter your warranty is void.

Interesting, seeing as it's nigh on impossible to shift into reverse while the car is moving...
