If insurance is a problem ditch the sport and get something cheaper to insure.

its illegal to add your mum to the policy and her not drive the car at all.

I was a 2nd driver on my old mans policy on my old corsa. but he never drove the car.

I got pulled once and i was fine. but the car has to be registered in your mums name for her to be the 1st driver and you the second driver.

otherwise they ask questions.

eg:

you buy the car, your name is on the V5 and you a a named driver (2nd driver). you get pulled.. they automatically think its your car so it should have been your policy NOT your mums.

get the gist?

No its not, if she is the policy holder then it is illeagal as its fronting but not as a 2nd driver.

I would add as many middle aged people you can, adding both my parents as named drivers to my ST brought it down £600

What a load of balls.

Named drivers don't HAVE to drive the car, it means they are covered IF they drive the car.

My Missus is insured to use my Corsa, she never does, she physically can't with the Bucket Seats in there. But, she is insured because if there is ever a need for her to use it, swapping the seats back to standard is easy and she can then use it.

And, i haven't got her on it to reduce my premiums, she actually adds cost to it, she is on there as it's another car she can use if she has to.

Its just the way of life TBH, you are 18 with a 1.4 "sport" insurance doesn't like that.

if you're listed as unemployed, try putting yourself as a self employed something, that knocks down the price.

also, add an old person to your quote with lots of NCB, that sometimes gets the price down as well.

Just wait until June bro,

Chuck mum / dad on as named drivers it will reduce your premium....

Get the MOT / Tax sorted - check insurance price and if worse comes to worse sell up and get something slower (keep some of the bits of your corsa though...

If you sell it you'll miss the power!!

Aye that is illegal and called fronting iirc. But if he is the policy holder and his mum a second driver, it can still reduce the price quite significantly and not illegal.

My dad's a named driver on my policy, even though his policy covers him to drive other cars. It actually came in handy when his turbo blew as he used my car to get to work
