it seams my car does nto like me very much maybe....

1st: i notice when i turn the lights on dim or full beam, it dims the dash lights etc.

2nd: the passenger electric window isnt working - no noise on the pasenger side button or drivers side button - now im not sure if this is anything to do with when it was really icey weather and i tried to open the window and it jolted 'cause of the ice on the wnidow and wouldnt open more than a couple of cm's, but it did shut again :S ?

3rd: the headlights/dash dim slightly when i press the window buttons - this has probably happend ever since ive had car - maybe its normal?

4th: a black cat ran across infron my car just now - do ihave bad luck now

is it a case of resetting the windows? or is there some sort of more serious electrical problem?

You might have a weak alternator output! or weak battery.

Lights dimming when you use windows and other high powered electrics is normal. like the rear window demister etc.

As for the window possibly a fuse or relay?

It could be a combination of bad earth, alternator and battery.

I'd start with changing the battery, and checking earthing points and if that doesn't solve it get an alternator.

You can get them from Halfords these days.

So, a black cat crossing your path is unlucky, you say? Interestingly that is what many believe in the USA and many European countries, but that very same belief in Japan is flipped on its head- they believe it is good luck. The next time a black cat crosses your path, just say “Konichiwa” and take control of your own luck.

i forgot to say that - damn it

no the light should work, sounds more like the fuse has blown or it could be the connection between the door and the car ( the gap that is made when you open the door between the hinge ). Make sure the connection is not loose.

You cant really get a wrong battery unless its underpowered but Im pretty sure the corsa takes quite a low power battery.

To me it sounds all alternator related, I had exact same issues on my Nova when that was going, dash lights flicking, electric windows not working, lights getting brighter when accelerating.

But if you have the wrong battery in it, it will be worth putting a new one on and going from there.

its not a big job but alot of people are put off by it because its alot harder than taking a door card off

Personnally I would take it to a garage and get them to do an alternator test (make sure its a garage you trust). If its not producing the right voltages during running then it will be the alternator.

the dash lights are meant to dim when you turn the headlights on. you will notice the mfd also dims. you can adjust the intensity using the thumb wheel below the light switch.

I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.
