Ok, put in here as i need a quick reply guys :\ and because of the timescale before i go home

need all the symptons that would cause the car to pull heavily to the left under acceleration & breaking.

whats happening

car pulls majorly to the left under acceleration / breaking

a little bit that might help

at the MOT (oct last year), the front left shock was given an advisory (something todo with it being to spongey i think)
coventry is full of potholes
the car has been the victim of a hefty lowering assualt
car sppends a lot of time sat on a horizontal drive (using gears NOT handbrake)

my thoughts are shock is fubard, sticking brakes or tracking is kaput

car only noticeably did it tonight, first time ive used it in days, like normal, but is nrmally fine after a few days standstill

also its been very dry last 2 weeks, but has rained alot today if that makes any difference ;s
ideas?

tracking has never been done since it was lowered, over a year ago.

car drove perfectly until 8pm tonight

jack it up one side, and check for play in the wheel

tomorrows job ,

isit wrong i need to jack the car up under the sill and under where the brakes atatched to raise the wheel btw? as in use 2 jacks?

Lowering will throw your tracking way out mate, if you can get to a local tyre place they will probably check it for free and only charge to adjust it.

ive tried well on the way to 20 nw dave, all say the camber is to extreme to fit the laser thingy me bob

Yeah lowering will throw it out, its true, depends how low it is, and why is it hapening all of a sudden though.

I used to have to jack my car up on the sill with scissor jack, to be able to get a trolly jack under it....to then gt an axle stand under it haha..

Since then bought low profile trolley jack of ebay for £30 does the job, its awesome

but its been fine for well over a year now, and has had the wheels off for new tyres n balancing in that time, granted it puleld very very slightly to the left then, but this is huge compared to tht

Ah I suppose yours is pretty low. They managed it on mine though and that had camber on the front If I'm honest it might be down to the people at the place because where I usually go a lad that has done it a couple of times is quite young and has a Metro with a 2.0 or something. The place where my cousin now works told me that the 12v was torque steering because it had too big wheels on it

Bit unlikely to have 20 places like that though

Anyway, could well be the shock mate. What make is it?

That may well be it then mate

I've just thought mate - check the top mount. On my old Spax the top mount was obviously old and the rubber had started degrading and had split in a couple of places. Don't know if it would make a difference if it got really bad.

well looked today, the spring is intact, no play in the wheel, and when it spins, theres a slight grinding noise, but i thought this to be normal?

f it was tracking it would pull to one side all the time. my bet is on sticking caliper.

have you checked tyre pressure? Check the simple things first.....

its only under acceleration or braking. i think tyre preassure would affect the steering at all times.

Put a large flat head screwdriver between the disc and inner pad and use this to leaver the piston back...once you get the piston pushed back the brake calibar should move back and forward quite easy...if not you may need to give it a slight tap with rubber mallet to get it moving more freely....and spray slides with some wd40...hope this makes some sence...
