last sunday night i was looking on internet at things and looked at cars as i sometimes do, saw a damaged one i quite liked look of,

so onday morning made a call to salvage yard, seemed good! phone call to dealer for prices on parts, few more questions and organised a deal, car was 2.5 hours away and didnt wanna carry cash so ended up paying for car on monday morning with debt card! was not gonna travel 2.5 hours and not bring car back anyway, bit risky i guess but hey! lol

started looking for parts, found a door that i needed which was off slightly new model but thought it was worth the risk! so organised getting that!

so thursday i left with jeep and trailer, picked up the door on the way and then the car! air bag had gone off on seat which they didnt tell me so they have bought me new airbag and sending it up to me, also car would not start cos the airbag module cuts fuel off:-( still brought the car home!

so now i am new owner of this :-) just over 7k miles, 58reg, clio 197 with cup park! not the recaro seats tho:-(

new door is on but had to change all the wiring over on the door!

parts ordered are :-
new rear 1/4 panel
complete new seat cover
new sill badge
new cup badge for new door
2 washer jets
rear bump strip

pics.........

fitting new airbag to seat looks ok ish, need to get set cover off and get new bad in and connected!

i was bit worried about it not running till i spoke to renault and they said air bad module will cut fuel off to eninge! silly new cars!. new air module is £114 retail, and 60 to fit and re code it! so not end of the world!

from pics i saw before i went to get the car it didnt have side skirt on, tyre was deflated and almost off the rim at back and rim could have been damaged, i just pumpled tire up and wheel is fine! so sort of saved on whee(£200) skirt (195) and tyre(100) so dont mind to much about the air bag thing cos saved on other things, hopeing to still come in around my origional budget!

You make it sound so normal to have 3 awesome cars, all in different ways. You work hard for it though give you that

when you replace the airbag for the seat try and make sure when you put the cover back on all the foam inserts stay in place as once its on its imposible to move them about and will never look or feel right.

looks a very good buy, are you gona fit the new quater? are they metal or plastic?

looks like you have got a nice easy repair there though and probably a good profit, did it categorised?

Nice, i worked for Renault for a few years the seats are real easy to change the back cover should just be the elastic going under to the base and a few clips which sorta slide together, good purchase

Barring the seats thats my favorite spec too. Will be good to see it finished. Take it it got classed as a cat d? Either way as you are doing it all yourself you should get a nice daily drive and maybe a profit once you are done with it too

Good luck with the 'should be good on fuel' probably better than the vx but mine gets about 26mpg when driven properly and 30 when driving like miss daisy!
