ok, theoretically what would happen if you crashed your car but the fool that had the car before you left the key in the pretensioner when he decided to botch sorry i mean weld the seat frame, also just found out most of the drivers side plastic trim was held in with nails that had been bent so it just held it all on, wondered why everything rattled so much
some people should not be let anywhere near cars

Pre-tensioner wouldn't go off and you'd either come out the top of the belt of submarine under the lap belt. Both would result in serious injury of the crash was hard enough...

The reason for a pre-tensioner is to take the slack out of the belt as in a hard crash the shoulder strap can slip down, or you submarine. Learn the terminology before you make silly comments.

Coming out the bottom of a seatbelt doesn't even bare thinking of. Bending your back through 90 odd degrees in that short a distance. Ouch!

This is the sort of thing that should be spotted before buying the car.

Lol!
You wont come out of the seat belt! Seat belts have worked fine for years before pre-tensioners come along.
Yes, the idea of the pretensioner is to pre-tension the belt before you move forward so there isnt as much slack, but its not to stop you from slipping out like a greased eel, its to prevent rotation of your body and sudden jerking to prevent internal injury, the seat is designed to absorb impact so you need to be firmly stuck to the seat to take advantage of that.

I can honestly say I've never looked at the pre-tensioners when buying a car.

Not the pre-tensioners, the fact that everything was bodged up.

every corsa i have owned has rattled in some sort of way, i didnt notice how botched the seat was until i decided to replace it with another standard sport seat with no rips on the bolsters. all the trim was held in place and "looked" normal and i had no reason to question it

I discovered the pretensioner key hadn't been placed back into position in my corsa when i was removing the seats. Was only the passenger side though, so you know, not my problem.
