Think I'm due a new headunit now getting bored with this one. Currently I have a Pioneer one, which was alright I suppose. But I just want something different. I'm after something that is flashy, and tells you what track is playing/things dancing to the music. Needs to have front USB Port, maybe a iPod input but not too fussed on that. Also needs to be blue/red lights to match the rest of my car, as I'm a fussy git like that.

Any suggestions.

if you're on about spending Ł250 mate i would suggest you get yourself to a propper car stereo shop and check them out. that's a lot of money and you can get a serious bit of kit for that price. I'm also an Alpine fan and i've noticed that with some of them even though you can have red/blue illuminated buttons you can only have white text. i dont know if that will fit in with your requirements though?

That's the thing near me, we got a super halfords but they are kinda shite for stereos. adn got like a Motorworld but t's just the same. Were would you recommend.

I dont mind the text being white, aslong as buttons and dials are red or blue. I think I got space for is it called a 'double din'? What do people think to them?

i've always bought mine from Car Audio Centre - Manchester. they have brances in Birmingham, Liecester and Nottingham. I'm not exactly sure which would be nearer to you as i've only been to Uttoxeter once.

if you want a double din then your choice will be reduced a bit as there are less in that price bracket. you dont have to get a double din though. you can use an infill panel to reduce it to single din.

i bought an alpine from here for my car not long ago

http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/category_m-ipod-ready_c-550_sort_by_price-DESC_pageItem-10_page-3.htm

really good headunits, think i got a 9885r? Ipod and usb are on the back so you run a wire to somewhere neat and out the way, rather than plugging in the front.

my only annoyance is it doesn't charge my ipod while its plugged in.

check that out. not sure what system you have in your car but that has 3 pre-outs as opposed to the alpine one in the same price range that only has 1. it's pretty cool looking too.
