Hi all.

Could do with some advice if anyone could spare some.

Payrise today of 20p PH. Taking me to a wonderful £7.45 P/H total.
Which IMO is appauling, however its in trend with the area's pay.

Im a qualified vehicle technician with 8 years experience, Also a qualified welder, various technical courses and basically at my current job i get all the crap diagnostics/ wiring faults etc.

The thing which really cheeses me off is the lad who's been there 4 years (qualified for 1) has been put on the exact same pay as me... he got a £1.20 PH payrise.
However, he can barely complete a service on his own.

What would you do if in my situation? As there doesnt seem to be many jobs available local to me.
And im not sure weather to confront my boss about it.

Any advice appreciated.

In what way Sc0ott?
As i dont want to piss him off too much.

Also he's not the sort of bloke you can have a casual chat with.

Ask Doyle.

just read what you said...
Just go to your boss every now and again, and complain about the guy(s)...

well your under experienced/qualified colleague is being paid more than you. unless he is sucking your bosses cock afterwork or is part of his family then i dont see why you shouldnt say anything. if he tells you to fuck off then just leave and find another job tbh

8 years experience and you're earning that? Pretty shocking tbh but I'd have a word with the boss in the nicest possible way.

To be fair, the other lad... lets call him "Joe" is a nice chap, and its not his fault, nor do i feel any bitterness towards him

However I dont think suggesting he's fallating the boss would be a good move.

It seems my trade is underpaid everywhere.

Im still trying to think of a polite way to put it across. hmmmm

Unless you have a word with your boss nothing is going to change. As mentioned, go to your boss and explain how you think you're being underpaid and bring up the fact that the "new" lad is on the same wage as you yet you have more experience, etc.

He's a business man, I doubt he would mind you asking , but ONLY if he's not doing anything else more important.

Bottom line is, if you don't ask you don't get....I once worked for a bloke and he would never EVER have given me a rise unless I asked him for one. In fact he saw the lack of ability to ask for a rise to be a weakness in an employee.

popped in to have a chat to him thismorning.
No result.

Basically were on equal wage because were both over 21.
And "Joe" can turn around 3 services a day, which earns just as much money as my diagnostics does.

Guess im looking a for a new job then lol
