Hi Guys,

My bro does street dancing and wants to make his own mixture of songs to do a routine too. Has anyone used any free software for this, if so what? Comp is running windows XP.

Cheers

MixMeister/Ableton etc. (not free though - unless you "buy it" from the "special shop").

You need a multi-tracker and ideally something with beatmatch/beat detecting, so Ableton Live or Sony Acid would fit the bill (there is also Protools but you need hardware for it to work) and aren't too bad for beginners. Neither of these are free though but can be had if you know where to look.

Edit - I wouldn't bother with any mixing software like Traktor/VirtualDJ have you don't have enough control, so go with a multitracker.

I've used acid pro in the past, pretty simple to get to grips with. Has a beat mapper function so you can sync all the tracks then you basically line them up right and you are away.
