on my 1.2 8v i have a prob. When i leave the car over night, it seems i lose petrol? anything upto an indicated 2/3 litres on the guage!
I realise this is very wrong and thought it was just me, but its true. Each morning when i restart my car i have less fuel. I have checked underneath and the ground on which the car stands but nothing! no smell, no wet patches, nothing.
Thing is, at the rear of my engine, i have a grey valve which is connected to a pipe from the petrol tank, and is used for fuel tank pressurisation. The valve is meant to be sealed, and linked to the inlet manifold, but ever since i've had the car, this valve has been broken, so i'm wondering, is it possible that fuel is evaporating in the tank, then moving up the pressure release pipe and out???
If i plug the valve, will it help? or is a build up of pressure in my tank a bad thing!!?? lol seems that way!
cheers for any input u can give!

maybe, u have to go up a hill to get your your house and then u park on a flat drive, and hence this would seem like your losing fuel when your not.

cheers for that lads, but nah, basically i have a flat driveway!! Before i turn the ignition off for the nite, i keep it idling for a few mins to let the guage settle. Then i do the same in the morn, and i have found there is definately a drop!!
I've checked in haynes, and its the "fuel evaporation control valve" found at the back of the engine bay. It says the purpose is to store fuel vapour in the charcoal canister when the car is parked up, then release it into the inlet manifold when u next start the car up.
I'm thinking that my valve is leaking the vapour straight into the engine bay, even whilst parked, and with no vacuum, loads more than it should, is escaping.
Any1 got any ideas?
