Hi just a quick poll.... what mpg do people get out there x16xe??? ive got full powerflow system incl de-cat and induction kit... i do alot of around town driving and get 80 miles to £20 is this good or is something wrong.

ive recently done oil change, plugs and fuel filter.

Why people say how many miles they get to £10 i have no idea. Petrol prices have gone up if you didnt realise? Now a days £10 is about 8 litres? About a year ago you would of got nearer 10 litres, and at one point it was 92p a litre (year or two ago) which means you would of got over 10 litres... its not very accurate talking petrol in pounds.

I get about 80 miles to 10 litres of fuel in my x14xe.

iv got a full sportex system plus de -cat janspeed 4-2-1 and a mantzel powerbox and my fuel consumption is horrible!

any ideas what my problem could be? i thought maybe head gasket, but my car never uses any water, uses a tiny bit of oil, but i know this is common on these engines and im talking 1/4Litre of oil every 6 months. My car never over heats and it never goes much over 90 in stop start traffic without the blower on.

HELP please i thought something wasnt right as i used to get about 120 miles out of £20 and thats with a lead foot

The reason I did it is because he put how many miles he got to £20, so I thought I'd tell him how many I get to £10, make sense?

Indeed this does make sense, you certainly ilustrated the fact that something is wrong with his car. But kristof1989 should be talking in litres in the first place. Ah well

It's just easier to wack £20 in, reset the clock, then go from there, insted of working out the MPG... I've always done it with money rather than litres

Anything from 280miles to 400miles roughly to 45 litres.

So between 48mpg down to 28mpg when being silly.

driving on a motorway at 50mph and changing at 2000rpm does wonders. Nearly died of boredom though.

ive changed the CTS i might put all the other plugs and CTS back in and see i that makes a diff as i think it was from when i changed it all that it went down hill

I get hardly anything to mine, Maybe 30 miles to £40 miles to £10:/ can smell its running rich though, ahve no idea why

is there any other tell tale signs of the head gasket failing? there is a bit of cream on the dipstick and cap, but it put that down to the weather temp changing and short journeys to and from work each day as its 3 miles to work from where i live, then home.... went for a 30 min/20 mile drive a second ago, temp gauge hit 90 and stayed around that area give or take a few notches for speed differences the whole journey without the hot blower on, is this normal? Thanks to everyone contributing

my corsa has just had 123miles to half a tank and that has been booted everywere except for when it had less that quater tank and the 123 miles was to the light was on and i think it had nothin init and i only got a pipercross induction kit and powerflow back box

just alot eaisier to put how many miles to how much petrol you put in in money as with the price of liquid gold constantly rising and lowering its hard to get the maths right

Ive put the bosch super 4 plugs back in and going to put the cat back on tomoro, just this second filled up £10 and its 3 miles to work, so will let all know how it goes when the dreaded red light comes back on

Service it - Oil Change, Filter Changes, Plugs, Leads etc etc

It all influences the efficiency, and economy, of the engine!

i get on average 34 to the galon on my gsi, thats bout 70 miles to £10 at the time petrol was £1.22 per litre, altho servicing your car does help,(my friend got an extra 3mpg just changing spark plugs) keeping your revs down helps your fuel economy. change gear before you hit over 3000 rpm, this means you wont be slogging the engine, yet you still goin places. less of the loud pedal m8y.
