You mean the corsa c 16v....it has more bhp because it has a re designed ecu fitted, same with the 1.0 as well, both got an improved ecu fitted, which is less restrictive power wise.

because the 1.0 16v micra is a new engine, the 1.4 8v is about 15 years old.
33 bhp at wheels probably, 45 and fly.

no your manual says you have 33kw, which is around 45hp. And the new micra 1.0 is much more advanced than your 1.4 and incorporates variable valve timing probably.

well yeah cos the 0 -60 time is slower for the 1.0. therfore the 1.2 8v must have more torque and the power comes in at a lot lower rev range on the 1.2 8v. u have to rag the tits off a 1.0

In fact, torque figures for both engines are extremely poor. The reason the 1.2 seems to be faster (is that the right word?) is simply because of the extra capacity and gearing. The 1.0 has the F13 gearbox, and the 1.2 has the F10. I am led to believe that the F10 ratios are more suitable for a car which doesnt like to rev beyond 4kRPM.

why in the name of satan's portion has my '94 M 1.2i merit only got 4 gears?
what were vaux thinking when they put that in?
have all merits only got the 4-speed? how much would it be to have a reconditioned/new 5-speed transplanted in there? would it make any difference to performance, fuel consumption, etc?
grateful for any answers, suggestions.
