Depends what you contribute and how long for. The bad news for most young people is that they're not paying enough.

Lucky for me, well, for now anyway, Royal Mail pension scheme is pretty good.
Iirc, I pay 7%, Royal Mail pay 14% in, something like that anyway. Mum said it was much better than her scheme

I pay 4%, company pays 6%. No idea how that works out but at the time paying in as much as possible to get better rewards seemed like a good idea.
Maybe ought to pay a bit more attention to it

I pay 5%, company pays 10% (they pay double my contribution up to a maximum of 10%, so I only pay 5% for now).
I understand where Colin is coming from, but Im not certain I will be earning the money he IS certain he will be earning soon

I get a 9% non-contributary pension through work. Got an estimated balance for when I retire and it isn't enough.
It'll get better when I earn more but is still a concern. Once the mortgage is payed of I'll have to bank a bit more.

But are you on the same policy as them?
Loads of people are retiring my my company this year with VERY good packages but no-one who started in the last 13 years will have a package anything like those that are now retiring.

This. But to elaborate on that;
A pump action Shotgun costs Circa £500. Probably more then due to inflation. But I'll take out whoever is fucking up the Country at the time then put a shell through my head. Living life to the full FTW.

would rather save into an ISA and take abit of money out each week. pension is another way for the govt to get money out of you.

My pension is currently making me more money than having the equivalent amount in an ISA

Also, if you buy a lovely car which will only apreciate, you can enjoy it when young, and sell it when old

but if you started your job when you were young like me (i was 19 when i started at ford) then in 35 years time i'll only be 54 which in my eyes, is still quite young, and hopefully i won't be slurring my words or pissing/shitting my pants.
