Where about's are you all?

How do you think the best way to find a reasonable flat/room is?

Considering making a move for career reasons and wondering how you find it?

Look at Gumtree or sites like RightMove, certainly the former if you're interested in Flat/House shares.

I lived there for two years... lived by Blackheath/Greenwich in south east London.

Check Gumtree.

Yeah i am checking gumtree at the moment, not sure whether a flat to myself would be better than a flatshare?

It would be nice to meet some people straight away!

Flat share could obviously work for you or against you. You might get a really good flat mate or a really bad flatmate, I would get a flat to myself first although this is probably going to considerably more and then when I have met new people etc then after 12 months then look to flat share.

Flat/House shares can be alright, you generally have an interview and a nosey round the place anyways and you can usually tell if someone is going to be a cunt to live with. Plus you could get somewhere smack bang in central London for not a lot - a mate of mine pays £600p/m inc bills (that's each btw) for a 4 double-bed apartment that he shares with two seriously fit blondes (+ some bloke) and it's about a 5min walk from Hyde Park, so a bargin to be honest.
If you stick to the outskirts (ie: just within the M25, 20min tube into central London) then you can easily get something for around the 5-700p/m (have seen decent flats in finchley for around 550p/m), but if you want something closer to town then you're easily looking over the £1k mark for a box of an apartment.
